المؤمن | The believer The granter of security | al-Muʼmin |
God, the believer, is the one to whom we should be grateful for the blessings of security and safety, as He provides their causes and shuts the doors of fear. He grants these in ways we recognize and in ways we may not notice in our daily lives. Security manifests on a societal level through laws that ensure the safety of all people, while personal safety, including mental and spiritual well-being, achieved through His guidance. Thus, God is the source of security and safety.
One fundamental truth about human beings is their inherent weakness. They fall ill both physically and emotionally and remain in constant need. God fulfills their natural necessities, providing them with the ability to breathe, food, water, medicine, and all other means of sustenance and safety. [1]
To grasp the power of this divine name, imagine a person born without both hands. How difficult would life be for him? Now, picture him facing a lion with a weapon nearby, yet unable to use it for protection. God, beyond being the One who created us as we are, is also the One who grants countless people around the world the ability to use their limbs, enabling them to live a normal life and protect themselves from external dangers.
In modern life, people experience many fears—they worry about losing money, facing death, the uncertainty of the future, and even losing their faith. However, when they reflect on this divine name and understand its meaning, their fears begin to fade. They come to realize that God is the protector of the universe, that He sees them, and that He understands their struggles. When a Muslim deeply studies this name and comprehends its true essence, they become free from the common fears that trouble most people today.
How Can We Benefit from This Name?
People can embody this divine name in their lives by becoming a source of security and trust for others. They should be someone in whose presence people feel safe, someone who can be entrusted with secrets and responsibilities. The weak and vulnerable should find comfort in their presence, as they guide them toward goodness and the path of God. This was the role of the Prophets—those who led people to the ultimate safety found in knowing and trusting God.
The prophet Mohamed (pbuh) clarified the meaning of the Muslim as a believer: “The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe, and the believer is the one from whom the people’s lives and wealth are safe.”
This hadith explains more how the behavoir of the believer should be. He is the one whom saying good things. He avoids saying negative things or gasspying about people. The believer is the one who do not harm others by his hands. He use them only in good things. That makes him a source of safety for others. Which eventually makes their wealth and themselves in a safe case. This behavoir affect Muslims and non-Muslims. There is no discremination between acting with Muslims and Non-Muslims.
